Tyre transport equipment tested for everyday use
Car dealership convinced by fetra quality

From October to Spring” is a rule of thumb known by most motorists. For workshops, this means: The months between October and Easter are particularly challenging for their employees. Changing from winter to summer tyres or vice versa is not only a logistical feat, it requires real physical effort. And the newer and bigger the vehicles, the heavier and more bulky their tyres. Transport equipment manufacturer fetra has practical solutions for these increased requirements in its range, which have proven themselves for use in workshops for many decades, not only during the tyre-changing season. In addition, the Borgholzhausen-based company relies on first-hand experience to continuously develop its portfolio of tyre transport equipment. The Pietsch car dealership in Melle, Germany, regularly uses various fetra products to test their suitability in everyday work and therefore provides important insight for product development. The workshop is currently testing two new products: thetyre storeroom trolley and the tyre truck for large wheels.

fetra has also continued to expand its portfolio for the automotive sector this year. The fetra tyre trucks with spreader carrier spars are also available for tyre sets in larger sizes, enabling them to pick up oversize tyres of, for example, SUVs. As an option, the tyre trucks can be ordered with approach rollers – these can also be retrofitted to all fetra tyre trucks. They make it easier for users to pick up and put down the tyres, as the spreader arms roll along the stack. This reduces the amount of force required. Another novelty includes the anthracite lifting table trolleys with a large lifting range, designed for a load capacity of up to 1,000 kg, and the tyre picking trolleys with roller conveyors.

 “Extremely robust and durable”

The employees at the Pietsch car dealership in Melle have subjected the new models of the lifting table trolley, tyre truck and tyre storeroom trolley to extensive testing to ascertain whether they are suitable for everyday use. The company operates a 500 m2 tyre hotel, which stores approximately 3,000 sets of tyres. When it's time to change the wheels, the fetra tyre trucks are in constant use to move the heavy tyres from the tyre hotel to the workshop and back again. “In the peak period during the tyre-changing season, it is especially important that the equipment we use is stable and of high quality,” says Rainer Fischer, Service Consultant at the Pietsch car dealership. And ergonomic handling is also important to protect the health of the employees and enable them to work quickly and efficiently. “So far, the new tyre truck from fetra is the only one that meets all these criteria. It is absolutely resistant, durable and excellent to handle,” says Fischer.

Oil-resistant and scratch-proof

In addition to the three new products, the workshop of the Melle car dealership uses some fetra transport equipment all year round, for example the table top carts, the open cart with push handle and the predecessor model of the tyre truck. Some of them have already been in use for years. “The trucks and trolleys from fetra are very robust and also easy to operate,” says Erik Heinen, Head of Parts Service, underpinning fetra's promise of quality “Made in Germany”. The tyre transport equipment’s welded steel tubing design ensures absolute stability. Thanks to their pre-treatment by shot blasting and subsequent powder-coating, their surface is resistant to impact and scratches as well as oil and corrosive chemicals – perfect qualities for heavy-duty use in automotive workshops.
