German procurement systems provider SSV-Technik uses and sells fetra logistics solutions

In-house logistics solutions must be user-friendly and efficient, before anything else. Yet, when their styling even matches the corporate colour code, they meet virtually all criteria that modern industrial operations require. A good example for combining functionality and design in a contemporary manner is the German company SSV-Technik GmbH based in Wutha-Farnroda, Thuringia. Established in 1993, the successful systems provider has always specialised in future-oriented technologies. When it comes to intra-logistics transport solutions, shelved trolleys from fetra are the products of choice that SSV-Technik uses for their own in-house needs and sells to customers. Since fetra also started to manufacture them in anthracite grey as an alternative to the trademark blue, the equipment is now even better suited to meet the requirements of a modern working environment in addition to the technical specifications.

The family-managed SSV-Technik GmbH is located right in the middle of Germany near the famous Wartburg Castle overlooking Eisenach in Thuringia. Originally supplying craftsmen and DIY customers with tools for various fields, the CEO Ulrich Mönch started to focus on industrial clients in 2002, initiating a decisive shift in the company’s history.

Standing out from the competition

Since then, the core competence of SSV-Technik has been offering an end-to-end supply with C-parts especially for automotive suppliers but also for metal-processing industries, enabling the company to clearly stand out from the competition. “We analyse the procurement processes, product portfolio, supplier offerings, logistics processes and warehousing costs for our customers”, explains Ulrich Mönch, summarising their range of services. “Then we develop action recommendations and provide offers for practical implementation. We make many C-parts available to our customers in vending machines as consignment goods directly at the production lines. In the plant and equipment domain, we provide consulting services for the planning and installation of shelving systems, work platforms and individual workplaces.” The company’s range of products and services is focused equally on the segments plant and equipment, machining tools and health and safety.

Solutions for streamlined processes

Danika Mönch, authorised representative and member of the management, provides a clear definition of the expectations that the fetra retailer places on themselves in all service areas: “We offer pragmatic and solution-focused services that reduce procurement costs and streamline processes.” This applies both for their customers and in-house processes. “Transparency and clarity is very important to us as we have hundreds of small parts coming in every day, which we may have to pre-pick, process for shipping or store in the warehouse”, says Hannes Lorenz, Purchasing Manager. To handle all these tasks, SSV-Technik has been using fetra shelved trolleys in various versions for more than 20 years. They simplify the work flow at some hubs in the warehouse covering a floor space of 2,700 sqm, for example when transporting goods from the high bay storage to the outgoing goods section. When it comes to good ergonomics, fetra trolleys are also a valuable asset as they allow the operators to place their picking boxes at a comfortable height and move them around safely without straining the musculoskeletal system.

Top quality in blue and anthracite grey

“The fetra products are of very high quality and support our logistics processes in the warehouse. This is why we have been recommending them to our customers for many years”, says Hannes Lorenz. fetra has been listed in SSV-Technik’s catalogue for premium plant and equipment products for a long time. The fact that fetra now supplies many of their hand-operated transport solutions in a modern anthracite grey in addition to the traditional blue is just one more convincing sales asset. “The products of our new GREY EDITION fit perfectly into contemporary work environments”, adds Markus Rehm, Field Sales Manager at fetra, whose customers include SSV-Technik in Thuringia. When the company moved into their new building featuring outstanding puristic architecture in the fall of 2017, they ordered a fleet of fetra shelved trolleys in anthracite grey. “Our corporate colours that we used both inside and outside on the façade of the building are red and grey. Here, the GREY EDITION from fetra is a perfect fit and supports our corporate design”, says Ulrich Mönch with a smile.

High advisory expertise

Irrespective of the colour, fetra transport equipment provides one key benefit: it simplifies in-house logistics processes and streamlines processes. At SSV-Technik, this helps both employees and customers. As the people at the systems supplier not only sell the equipment but use it themselves in various versions, their advisory expertise is very high. “And this is exactly the added value that only an expert retailer can provide”, says Markus Rehm with confidence
